Asymmetric grasping response in neonate chimpanzees (pan troglodytes)

The strength of grasping responses was stronger for the right hand than for the left hand in 13 chimpanzees of mean age 14.8 days. This finding demonstrates that lateralization is present in neonate chimpanzees and suggests some evolutionary links between lateralization in apes and humans.
